Who would have thought, when the first Ardennen Cup took place in Diekirch in 1996, that we would be celebrating our 30th edition in 2027?

What started with 12 tables and 128 players has grown into an international tournament with 30–32 tables and more than 500 participants. But one thing has always remained the same: the Ardennen Cup is a tournament for everyone – from beginners to experienced players.

Over these 30 years, we have had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people, building friendships and creating countless memories together. Sadly, we have also had to say goodbye to people who were part of the Ardennen Cup and helped shape it over many years.

A tournament made possible by its people

Behind the Ardennen Cup is a dedicated team that has been organising the event for many years. Long-standing members include Marc Hahn, Chantal Hahn, Janika, Rachelle, Keshia, Roxanne, Lara, Fedor, Ed, Bernadette and Josée.

At the same time, our team of volunteers has become increasingly international. Up to 30 volunteers from different countries help with setting up and taking down the tournament alone. During the event, many more join us – at the tournament desk, behind the bar, in the pavilion, at the grill stand and wherever an extra pair of hands is needed. Without their combined effort, the Ardennen Cup simply would not be possible.

Tradition meets a new generation

After three decades, a new chapter is also beginning behind the scenes. A new generation is gradually taking on more responsibility, working alongside our long-standing organisers and benefiting from their experience.

The tournament itself continues to evolve as well. Our older tables will gradually be replaced, and with Dynamic Billard as our new main sponsor, we have a strong partner by our side to support us in this process.

Rising costs in recent years have also made it necessary to adjust some of our entry fees. This will help us maintain the quality of the Ardennen Cup in the long term while allowing us to make the necessary investments for the future.

And after many discussions about what comes next, one thing is certain:

The Ardennen Cup will continue! 🎱

Together with the new generation, we have decided to continue the tournament for at least another three years beyond 2027.

We look forward to celebrating 30 years of the Ardennen Cup with all of you – and to beginning the next chapter of this special story together.
